Quantification and Measurement of Light Pollution

Light pollution occurs when lighting invades into a space where it is not wanted. This can happen in many ways, such as debilitating glare, light trespass into neighbouring properties, or as the illumination of the night sky. The rapid proliferation of LED lighting has brought the issue of light pollution to the fore. We are focused on quantifying light pollution and developing novel techniques to measure it using low-cost instruments. We are partnering with Massey’s Photometric Laboratory for our project.
